I have several accounts. Recently, when I enter a transfer from one account to another, Quicken puts it into a different account. This can occur in the debit or credit columns. It just seems to have a mind of its own! Help!!! Carole from Delray Beach, FL

I am not computer savvy - so I am reluctant to try something as complicated as your suggestion sounds. I guess I'll just have to live with it. That is also why I am not willing to update my Quicken to the 2018 version. Thanks for trying to help me.I would start by trying to re-index your file. Read the steps in this FAQ:

1. Quit Quicken and make a backup copy of you data file. The simplest is to go to the Finder, single-click on your file and select File > Duplicate.
2. Open your data file.
3. Select Lists > Accounts
4. Press and hold CMD-OPT and press B.
This will force a re-indexing of your file. If that does not solve your problem, then try the next easy thing.
1. With your data file still open, select File > Save a Copy..
2. When done, open the new file and see if the problem is still there.
If you run into any errors, you can always go back to your backup. Report back your results.

If by “ideal” they mean charging $15 to re-enable software that they’ve long since given up supporting, then I agree. Ideal.

My advice would be to take that $15 and put it toward Moneydance, which had turned out to be a great alternative to Quicken. If you like them on Facebook, you can get a 20% discount off the $49.99 list price.
